Everyone remembers a curtain call—the thunder of applause, the final bow—but what about the spark that inspired the opening scene? What about the writer whose heartbreak shaped a single lyric, or the composer who spent years crafting the perfect act-two ballad? What about the monologues whispered into mirrors and the melodies sketched on coffee-stained napkins?

Morgan Vanderlaan and Nicolas Chalise are a young duo studying English and music composition, respectively, at the University of Florida. Since beginning their partnership in October 2024, the pair has written and produced a workshop performance of their first full-length musical MOMENTS. They have also completed a one-act modern musical tragedy Supernova, with hopes to stage a production in the spring. Most recently, they've made their mark on Downtown Gainesville with an outdoor performance of The Reject Rockettes: a Holiday Cabaret.
